Bringing together all of the information you need to stay up to date with the latest changes for the Exams Process.

You may remember that, since 2016, it is no longer a requirement for schools in England to import a Performance Measures file. Capita introduced additional functionality in the SIMS Spring Release 2017 to allow schools to own and take responsibility for the Performance Indicators in their data, which can then be used in the Exams PI Reports.

What do I have to do?

Schools that use SIMS to analyse their PI data will need to ensure they have up-to-date Performance Indicators in SIMS, so that the PI Reports and associated analysis in other areas are accurate. Several menu routes were added to allow you to clone and copy existing QNs (formerly referred to as QANs) that had results against them for 2017/2018. This process does not delete or make unavailable any 2017 QNs, it will simply make the 2018 list more manageable.

You can find more information on this functionality in the Processing Results and Calculating PI Data in Exams and SIMS handbook. This will help to provide you with a checklist of activities that you need to do to prepare the data for the PI Reports.

Whether you use SIMS for analysis or not, you may find the Results Day Survival Guide useful, to guide you through the process of updating your Exams data.

Managing Performance Indicators

To help customers understand the steps they need to take to ensure their Performance Indicator Reports are accurate in 2017, Capita have produced a summary of the steps (taken from Chapter 3 of the Processing Results and Calculating PI Data in Exams and SIMS) including some anecdotal feedback on the amount of time this may take.

We hope this, in addition to the main handbook provides you with all the information you need to complete this activity ahead of your result days.
