Polling Station School Closure

Entering a # code into SIMS Attendance for Polling Station School Closure/Partial Closure

If your school is being used as a Polling Station for the European Election on the 23rd May 2019, the following instructions will help you to assign the appropriate attendance code to those pupils affected.

There are two ways to input a # code for a Polling Station closure into Sims .net.

  • Enter a # code against whole school attendance (Whole School Closure)
  • Enter a # code against specific registration or year groups (Partial School Closure)


To enter a # code against whole school (Whole School Closure) 

  • Open Sims .net and navigate to Focus | Attendance | Exceptional Circumstances
  • Select New
  • Set the From date as 23/05/19 and the period AM
  • Set the To date as 23/05/19 and the period PM
  • Ensure Whole School is selected in the Group Type drop down box
  • In the Code drop down box, select the # code (Planned whole or partial school closure)
  • In the Description field, enter “Polling Station : European Election 2019
  • Click Search and then Apply to action the enforced closure
  • Check via Focus | Attendance | Edit Marks that the # code has applied correctly on 23/05/19

 

To enter a # code against specific registration or year groups (Partial School Closure)

  • Open Sims .net and navigate to Focus | Attendance | Exceptional Circumstances
  • Select New
  • Set the From date as 23/05/19 and the period AM
  • Set the To date as 23/05/19 and the period PM
  • In the Group Type drop down box select Year Group or Reg Group
  • In the Code drop down box, select the # code (Planned whole or partial school closure)
  • In the Description field, enter “Polling Station : European Election 2019
  • Click Search then select your target groups, using the CTRL button to multi-select as you click
  • Click Apply to action the enforced closure
  • Check via Focus | Attendance | Edit Marks that the # code has applied correctly on 23/05/19
